Who we are

The Still & Strings is a performance and roleplay project that aims not to be #1, or to be the "it" place to be on your Friday nights, but instead aims to provide roleplayers both old and new with an engaging and exciting experience. We want to involve all of our guests in every show we do. We are always searching for feedback, and incorporating suggestions into our daily improvement. We hope that you enjoy your time with us!

The tickled keys

The Tickled Keys is our cute name for the stage we keep in the basement. You know, where the party is. On our stage sits two pianos, one which brings shadow, one brings light - not really, but they do have different sounds. Dancing on top of them can be found two of our lovely dance leaders, shining like the gems they are. We definitely commend them for trying to lead a massive group of drunk people in a coordinated dance, that's for sure.
The Tickled Keys boasts a wide area front and center for all the huge fans of the performing arts to stand close enough that you feel like you're hanging out with your favorite performer, but far enough that they don't get weirded out. At every show, we intend to bring the noise, the laughs, and present you with a show unlike any other you've seen. Unless you've seen our shows already.
Not a big fan of moshing up front? That's alright. Tucked behind the front, further back,is our full-service bar where you can sit back, relax, and watch the show. Feeling totally overwhelmed? We've got comfortable loft seating above the bar just for you!

THE new lounge!

The Still & Strings is proud to present the brand-new lounge on the ground floor of the establishment! This is a relaxing area with seating, booths, and a billiards table for a little competition between friends!

POOL TABLE RULES:
Roll to start: The HIGHEST rolling player at the start of the game can choose Solids or Stripes. The highest roller also goes first, breaking the balls.
You must sink eight balls as well as the cue ball to win.Call your Shot! - When it's your turn, call even or odd, as well as call out the number of the ball you're aiming for. If you do not roll a match to your call, you miss. ((1—8 Solids 9—15 Stripes))Example - OOC: Odds, ball 5. /roll - Random! You roll a 400. Aka the roll was even and the call was for 'odd', so you miss your shot. The first player to win by sinking all their balls and the cue ball wins! We encourage friendly betting!

BAR NIGHT SPECIALS

  • Miq'abob Variety Platter: A plate of four different types of miq'abobs grilled outdoors - lamb & cumin, mushroom & pepper, fresh tuna, and garlic shrimp.

  • Big-ass Plate o'Nachos: Exactly what it says. A big-ass plate of nachos covered in seasoned beef, queso, salsa, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Guac is extra.

  • The Grease Basket: Couldn't decide on what deep-fried delicacy we wanted to serve, so we decided to offer a whole bunch of 'em. A basket of fried pickles, fried cauliflower, cheese curds, and seasoned fries. Served with special dipping sauce.

  • A Thing o'Wings:It's like a bowl but also a plate of breaded and fried wings. Sauces: BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Hot, & Hot But Painfully So.

  • Hot, Salty Nuts: Toasted cashews, peanuts, and walnuts tossed in salt and spices. They've got quite the savory kick!

  • Fresh Popcorn: It's just popcorn. Buttery, salty, gets stuck in your teeth.

Rodeo-side libations

Nothing pairs with a rodeo like ice-cold beers and expertly mixed drinks. Turali-style cocktails galore, made fresh by the Still & Strings proprietor.

COCKTAILS

  • Nopalitender's Bane - Named only because we had to do a little local hunting to get the fresh, sweet nopalitender tunas for this drink. A slice of the nopalitender tuna is muddled with sugar and then shaken with ice, featuring a sweet syrup from the tunas and mix it with the Still & Strings's new, smoky and slightly spicy mezcal joven, along with a squeeze of fresh lime. We pour out the heavenly bright pink concoction over ice into a salt-rimmed glass and serve with a slice of lime and a slice of that darling red fruit.

  • Still & Strings Fourth Promise Ale - Ice-cold bottled ale fresh from the Still & Strings brewery. This golden Turali-style ale could be regaled as royalty for how good it is. Slightly sweet, lightly malty, with a floral note on the back end. Served bottled, or ask for it in a michelada, where we mix it with lime juice and hot sauce for a sour-spicy punch to the face.

  • The Blue Bee - Enjoy another sample from our upcoming brand-new menu! One of our newest mead recipes, this sweet-tart honey wine is made with honey created from bees raised right at home in the Shroud. Combined with the best blueberries we could find and aged for months in the Stills' retired bourbon barrels for that slightly woody finish. Can be served as is, or try it in our "Ginger-blue Bee", mixed with gin and ginger beer!

  • Rodeo Ranch Water - For when you want your mezcal delivered in a more... elegant way. Starting with a generous pour of our mezcal joven, we then top it off with a squeeze of lime, a dash of orange liqueur, and then fill the glass with sparkling water we picked up at Sheshenewezi Springs. Served over ice with a wedge of lime.

  • Donna Maravillosa - We swung by the mountains in Urqopacha and traded off some bourbon for a load of the best pisco we could find. We took that pisco and mixed it up with our house's elderflower liqueur, a squeeze of lime juice, and a splash of club soda for a sweet, floral refreshing cocktail.

NON-ALCOHOLIC!

  • Hhusatawi Horchata - Got the recipe straight from the locals. Rice and almonds are blended into a milky liquid, sweetened with raw sugar, and flavored with cinnamon and vanilla. We stir in a little bit of sweetened condensed milk before we serve it cold over ice - comes with a cinnamon stick, for fun.

  • Agua Fresca Flight - Order a sampler of all four for you and your, or take just one of your favorite. Each of our agua fresca blends is made with fresh fruit, water, sugar, and lime juice. Choose from the following four flavors:

  • Rolanberry

  • Papaya

  • Cucumber & Melon

  • Pineapple

  • Chicha Morada - A gorgeously vibrant purple drink that anyone can enjoy. It's also really good for you, we promise. We made this by brewing together dried purple corn from Urqopacha with fresh pineapple, lime juice, sugar, cloves, and cinnamon. We let that simmer together until it turned a deep purple and the texture was juuuuuust right. Served over ice with a wedge of crisp green apple and pineapple.

DRINKS AT THE BREWERY

We wouldn't be us without the distilled liquor that gave us our name. Any of our signature liquors can be mixed into cocktails! Consult our bartender on duty for their suggestions - everyone's got different taste. Navigate the buttons below to see our full selection.

SPECIALS

COCKTAILS

  • Fire & Ice: Gin and bourbon join hands with vermouth, crème de cacao, and cranberry juice, only to be topped with ginger beer for a cold, refreshingly zingy drink with a little bite to it. Garnished with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar.

  • Cheepteeni: The "cheep" part refers to the sound a baby chocobo makes, it isn't suggesting our liquors are cheap. First, we rim a frozen martini glass with pink sugar, then pour in a mix of marshmallow-flavored vodka, heavy cream, grenadine, and a bit of vanilla syrup. The result is a silky, sweet martini that we finally top with a sugar-coated marshmallow shaped to look like a tiny chocobo chick.

  • Vidraal's Libation: Spicy and tingly, served cold, just like the legendary tural vidraal itself. Mezcal gets doctored up with some lime juice, a bit of agave syrup, and a dash of hot sauce and worchestershire. Served over ice and topped with The Still & Strings Fourth Promise ale, garnished with a lime wedge. Transports you out west instantly!

  • Spring Fever: Because we've got it bad. We muddle rolanberries in a shaker with a bit of elderflower syrup, then shake them up with lemon juice and ice. After straining that out into a wine glass over ice, we top the drink with real nice sparkling rosé from our friends at the Bel Canto. Garnished with a slice of lemon. Fancy and light!

  • Sailor's Delight: A floral cocktail that reminds you of a red springtime sunset over the ocean horizon. Bourbon and chartreuse get shaken with fresh grapefruit juice and a house-made hibiscus tea syrup to create a vibrant red cocktail that gets served over ice. Garnished with a bright red hibiscus flower.

SHOTS

  • Wake-up Slap: Slap optional. Ask for it Hurricane style! Wake up from your long Winter nap with this shot that's two parts vodka, one part coffee liqueur.

  • Save a Horse: Cream liqueur, tequila rose, and butterscotch liqueur create a sweet, creamy concotion that'll get you right in that "spring heat" kinda mood.

  • The Squape Gone Wrong: RIP to a real one. Blue curacao, a splash of grape juice, and a full shot of Jägermeister to hotfix you out of reality.

  • Bear-ly a Shot: We'd like to give this shot to a real bear and see just how drunk he could get. Peanut butter whisky pairs with coffee liqueur, just a bit of almond milk, and a miniature peanut butter cup candy. Dangerously sweet, you'll have downed seven of them before you realize!

  • Beeboo's Red Rage: This guy just won't quit. Our Beeboo IV energy drink blend gets shook up with cherry schnapps and makes a violently red shot that'll probably make you want to start a bar fight. Please don't.

BOURBON & WHISKY

  • 4-grain Anniversary Bourbon - Our brand-new bourbon recipe features four distinct grains along with corn, giving it a distinct depth of flavor and an earthy note underneath the opening nose of dried fruit and raspberry jam. Enjoy a complex palate of spiced oak, milk chocolate, caramel, white pepper, and sweet black cherry is followed by a lengthy finish of orange peel, honey, sweet lemon cake, creamy chocolate, and pepper spice. Best enjoyed on the rocks, giving it the right amount of burn with a fine finish.

  • Sweet & Sassy Bourbon Cream - But we hadn't gotten enough mileage out of that new bourbon recipe of ours, oh no. We've made the perfect blend of bourbon, vanilla, and sweet cream to make a liquor that's perfect for your afternoon - or morning - coffee or tea. It's even good just over ice. We recommend pouring in your iced coffee for a fun boozy treat.

  • Roehwyta Highland Single-Malt La Noscean Scotch - So named for the maker's rough experimentation process for this scotch. Luckily, this one finally made it past his ever-discerning palate. It's said Cael went through hundreds of barrels before he figured out which one held the right properties for this scotch. Roehwyta starts with a sweet, honey-like taste, with the earthy, peaty smoke rolling in like the mist from the La Noscean highlands in the morning sun. Finally, a scotch that doesn't punch you in the face with dirt flavor. This one's more like rolling in the dirt with your lover.

  • The Eternally Bonded Rye Whisky - Bottled in bond, this whisky was made once when the Still & Strings was first beginning to brew and will never be made again. Since those days, this rye has been aging in its cask, waiting for the perfect day that Cael would let it out to shine. Surprisingly clear-tasting, this whisky starts with a cinnamon hit and follows with dried fruit, tobacco, and a touch of dragon pepper.

  • Color Me Cherry: Springtime seasonal! This whisky turned out way redder than we thought it was gonna be. This bright red whiskey is cherry-forward in its flavor with a classic note of vanilla and toasted caramel. Great for your next cherry limeade or sub out the vodka in your next mule.

CIDER & ALE

  • Jack's Bentbranch Pear Cider - Because apple is overdone. A sweet perry with that crisp pear flavor that is great on a warm day. Medium body, lightly tart, with a slight floral hint in the back.

  • Shadedark Black Cherry Cider - For when you're one step closer to the edge. A full-bodied, dark cider with that classic apple taste, followed with a sweet and surprising cherry finish.

  • Silk & Strings - We're trying to be cool and name our ales weirdly like everyone else does. This pale ale is crisp and light, light-bodied and malt-forward. Notes of green fruit, dragon pepper, a touch of banana and lemon peel, and just a bit bready on the back end.

  • Black Barghest Porter - This heavy-bodied ale starts with heavy-roasted malt and coffee, moving into chocolate and caramel, and then finishes with the slightly fruity note of raisin and molasses. Bottled in black glass. Exudes an ominous aura. But it's delicious.

  • Still & Strings Fourth Promise Ale - Ice-cold bottled ale fresh from the Still & Strings brewery. This golden Turali-style ale could be regaled as royalty for how good it is. Slightly sweet, lightly malty, with a floral note on the back end.

  • Rolanberry-Banana Bragging Points: If one manages to work banana flavour into a beer, one deserves to brag. Rolanberry and banana forward, this creamy milkshake-style IPA holds notes of chocolate and hops before hitting you in the face with banana again. Hearkens back to easier days, enjoying your favorite banana split at that one ice cream stand that only opens for a few months a year. Dang.

mead

  • Martin's Blessed Mead - So named because Martin's apiaries are the ones that brought us our new line of mead, including this classic one. A deep amber color, it has notes of spiced rum and the honey sweetness you'd expect. This mead's mouthfeel is almost thick, in that the flavor coats your mouth on its way down. On the back end, it comes through with a fruity spicy with white grape. Best in a hot toddy.

  • Pixie's Flight Mead - It's said that the first mead ever tasted was stolen by some mythic race in the far north, further than most people have explored, that is. At least, that's how the myth goes. With that in mind, we thought to try making a mead with cooler-climate fruits - Coerthan apples, mainly. Featuring crisp apple blended with honey from our apiaries, this mead is fresh, spicy, and sweet all at the same time.

  • Memory of a Summer's Eve Mead - Orange blossom stars heavily in this dry mead, with a light orange citrus note balance by the honey sweetness. Our bees for this one were raised on just orange blossom alone, giving the honey itself a citrusy, floral taste. It has zinfandel wine hints and a dry, tart finish. Easily drinkable on its own!

  • The Blue Bee Mead -This sweet-tart honey wine is made with honey created from bees raised right at home in the Shroud. Combined with the best blueberries we could find and aged for months in the Stills' retired bourbon barrels for that slightly woody finish. Can be served as is, or try it in our "Ginger-blue Bee", mixed with gin and ginger beer!

moonshine

  • Odin's Full Moon - Because the weather was just strange when this moonshine was concieved. Great blue-green fog rolled in, and the clouds parted to reveal a full moon that night that our proprietor first made this moonshine. This 100-proof moonshine has a clear, crisp taste without the severe burn that you'd normally get from this type of liquor.

  • Not Your Mama's Peach Cobbler - This moonshine starts with juicy peaches and a bit of spice and vanilla to create one hell of a drink that tastes like a peach cobbler in liquid form. If only peach cobbler had this few calories and got you this drunk, huh?

  • Martin's Moonshine Pickles - From the mad scientist themself comes these pickles - cucumber pickled in moonshine, that is. Seasoned with your traditional pickling spices and soaked in moonshine, this is both a drink and a snack in one! Just don't ask us why all the jars are different colors...

  • It's Fucking Blue: We tried our best to recreate the mythical "blue raspberry" flavor of yore by pouring in a metric fuckton of blue food dye, and infused the moonshine with a mix of fruit flavors so that one could never doubt that yes, "blue raspberry" isn't a real flavor. It's just not.

tequila & mezcal

  • Muerte al Maguey - We don't wanna talk about how we got all the megamaguey piñas we needed for this. The name says it all. This mezcal joven is twice-distilled in wood-fired copper stills and has a tropical nose reminiscent of all the best parts of Tural. With a palate of roasted agave, ginger, and tangerine, this mezcal is the best base for any number of cocktails!

  • El Jinete Blanco - They say the devil rides in on a white horse - and the devil that is a hangover rides in on tequila blanco. 100% blue agave gives this blanco tequila a peppery, agave-centric taste with just a tiny citrusy-smooth finish.

  • Smoke over Chabameki - This mezcal añejo a is a deep golden hue, the recipe comes from the Pelupelu mezcaleros our propietor learned the trade from. Smoky, with notes of buttery caramel and spice. Great on the rocks!

rum

  • Seven Springs White Rum - Okay, so we only got the water from one local spring, but Seven sounds nicer than One, doesn't it? This clear white rum is warm, slightly sweet, and has aromas of pear and cinnamon. Finishing with a subtle taste of anise, nice and crisp and clear.

  • Cieldales Classic Dark Rum - Made with the help of totally consenting, happy mammets out in the Cieldales, featuring an ancient Lalafellin recipe. We've aged this one in our own oak barrels, giving it an oaky start with a nutmeg hit, but that didn't take the tropical taste out of this dark rum. Great in a mai tai any time of year.

  • Captain Cael's Plunder Spiced Rum - ( The bottle has a realistic depiction of Caelholdt himself standing on a cask, with his hair billowing in the wind behind him.) Every pirate - erm, privateer's favorite. This spiced rum is spicy, dominating the flavor until it mellows out to butter, vanilla, with smoke and oak on the end.

WE'RE HIRING

The Still & Strings is in need of several types of volunteers to help keep our events as interactive as we want them to be! As such, we have three "key" roles that participate in our shows, on stage and off-stage: Performers, Dancers, and Staff.Follow the navigation below to learn more about each of our roles.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us on any of our social media!

FOR PERFORMERS

The Still & Strings is proud to invite performers of all genres and levels of experience to come and show us their talents on our stage. Read on for more information about how our shows run differently than what you may have participated in before, or watched before. Each Still & Strings performance night features several performers. We aim to present our talent in what we call a “blended” performance format. What is a blended performance format?
The blended performance format is unlike most performance shows we’ve observed in the past. Instead of one performer going through their entire act, followed by the next who does the same thing, we will be stringing performances together, as if we put the playlist on “shuffle.”
For example:Someone else’s performance show:
111 > 222 > 333 > 444 > 555 > 666
Our blended performance format:
1 > 2 > 4 > 6 > 5 > 3 > 2 > 6 > 1 > 3 > 2
What we intend by using this format is a more streamlined show, something that flows together and lets all our performers shine equally. Instead of the first act being kind-of forgotten by the end of the show, everyone gets to come back up on stage again and wow everyone – like a pallet cleanser but for your ears! It also gives us hope that our performers get a little more time to mingle and RP between their songs if they so desire. However, this does come with a caveat! Performers using macros that are synced to music absolutely must turn in their music FOUR DAYS before the following event. This does not mean that you must have your macros ready to go four days before the event! We just need to have your music so that we can figure out your slotting. If you're unable to participate in the blended format due to time constraints but still want to perform, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you! Please let us know as early as possible! If you’re interested in signing up, please contact Caelholdt or sign up using our Google form!

FOR DANCERS

Are you a dancer by trade? Do you like being the person who starts everyone else dancing? Love wearing flashy glamours? Do you want to be under the lights, but don't want to subject yourself to tedious macros and tons of writing?
We have the job for you!
On the Tickled Keys stage, our dueling pianos serve as platforms for two dancers, also referred to as dance leaders. What this role does is simple: they lead the crowd with dances, prompting the audience to follow along and keep the experience more interactive. We ask that our Dance Leaders possess a list of the most common dances, at least the following emotes:
/sdance, /bdance, /hdance, /songbird, /cheeron, /cheerjump, /cheerwave, and /flamedance.
Not having all of these doesn't mean you won't be able to be a dance leader! Contact FlashBallad#0001 on Discord for help.If you’re interested in signing up, please contact Caelholdt or sign up using our Google form!

for staff

The Still & Strings is not just a stage with a motif that screams "we sell alcohol." We actually do sell alcohol. A bar needs bartenders, a venue needs security, and much more behind the scenes! If you'd like to help us out by serving as bar staff, security staff, or helping organize events behind the curtain, please contact FlashBallad#0001 on Discord or on any of our social media.
Thank you!
